Manchester City will be hosting French champions Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday at the Etihad Stadium. Let’s take a look at the preview of Man City vs. PSG in the second leg of their 2016 UEFA Champions League quarterfinals matchup.
The Citizens have a two-way goal advantage against the Parisiens heading into the game after a 2-2 draw in the first leg. However, Man City will be without defensive anchor Vincent Kompany and young winger Raheem Sterling.
“With this defence we played a lot of games here in the Premier League and in the Champions League and if we are at this stage it is because we have good defenders,” City manager Manuel Pelligrini said via BBC.
“We are always talking, seeing and working with all the defenders. Maybe they made some mistakes in the last game against PSG but I trust they will play in the level they can do it,” he added.
On the other hand, PSG will be playing without defender David Luiz and midfielder Blaise Matuidi because of the accumulation of yellow cards. PSG coach Laurent Blanc is very confident that his club will go through the semifinals in what he calls “a new era for French football.”
“It would make it a real breakthrough. But that is not enough. Ultimately, the club’s objective is to win the Champions League. There will be expectations until we win it. A lot of investment has been made. We have to show we are making progress,” Blanc said.
