Manchester United Transfer News: Neymar transfer imminent as Barcelona face finance trouble

La Liga giants Barcelona are currently facing financial woes and Neymar might help them get off it. The current Spanish champions are desperate to keep hold off the Brazilian; however it seems that they can’t afford to tie him down to a long-term contract. Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are the clubs currently in front seat to sign the forward.

Neymar, who has a buyout clause of $207 million, is being paid $111,000-a-week at Barcelona. Manchester United have reportedly offered a sum of $432,000-a-week in order to lure him away from Camp Nou, as reported by The Sun.

The 24-year-old is enjoying a sensational form with Barcelona this season. The man from Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil has 28 goals and 23 assists under his belt in all competitions.

With such a tremendous form, Barcelona knows that they need to offer Neymar a sensational deal to keep him interested in playing for them. However, with their recent financial woes, offering a high value contract will be difficult for the Catalan giants.

Spanish reporter Guillem Balague commented on the issue stating that Neymar’s lifestyle is not ideal for an elite player and some of his Barcelona team mates are not happy with him. Balague is a respected journalist in Spain and words’ coming out of his mouth regarding the incident suggests that there is some validity behind the news.

“Two Catalan newspapers started a sort of campaign against Neymar, and those things never take place by chance. It coincided with Barcelona’s defeats and of course with the fact that the club has not sorted out yet a sponsor for next season.” Ballague said, as reported by Daily Star.

Manchester United supporters could be hopeful of welcoming the Brazilian sensation to Old Trafford considering that the club has already made it clear that they would be more than happy to meet Neymar’s buyout clause. However, the transfer would majorly depend on United’s qualification to next season’s Champions League.

Meanwhile, after going nowhere in their pursuit of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, PSG have shifted their focus to Neymar. They want to add a superstar name to the squad next season with Zlatan Ibahimovic exiting the club.
