English Premier League (EPL) club Arsenal’s chances of capturing Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi may have received a major blow. The Argentine has revealed recently of his family’s desire to stay in Milan and that could hint at him not leaving Inter for the foreseeable future.
“My family’s objective is to stay in Milan. I’ve never hidden the fact that my family is happy here + that goes for Wanda + kids.” Icardi tweeted on his official Twitter account.
He also went on to claim Milan is his home and his wife is speaking to Inter to find a solution. Icardi then stressed on the fact that he doesn’t give any importance to rumors and what is being said in the media. His intention is to stay and play for Inter.
This will be a disappointment for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who was reportedly preparing a $55 million bid to sign the player. The Gunners are looking to bring in a world-class striker at the Emirates Stadium to partner Olivier Giroud upfront in a bid to win the Premier League title, according to Corriere dello Sport, via Calciomercato.com.
Icardi is one of the important players for the Nerazzurri’s and manager Roberto Mancini will be eager to keep him at the club. The striker featured in 33 matches for Inter in the Serie A last season scoring 16 goals. He created 32 chances for his team, registering four assists. He has a shot accuracy of 53%, according to Squawka.
It seems that Wenger and the Arsenal hierarchy will have to look elsewhere to make their statement striker signing of the summer. It has to be noted that options keep reducing for the Frenchman to fill up his world-class striking quota of this transfer window.
