Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane wants to add Leicester City defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante to his squad. The Frenchman sees the midfielder as a perfect cover for Casemiro who has been instrumental to Madrid’s team last season.
Zidane has been monitoring Kante’s performances with Leicester City in the English Premier League (EPL) for a while now and he believes that should Casemiro suffer from an injury or suspension, Kante would provide a world-class cover for him. However, it has to be noted that with the qualities the 25-year-old player possesses, he could easily become the first choice at Real Madrid, as reported by Marca.
Since Zidane took over as the manager at the Santiago Bernabeu, he has chosen to field a defensive midfielder in his starting lineup instead of an attacking midfielder to provide more solidity to Real’s back four. Casemiro being the only player at the club able to perform that role was given the first team jersey over James Rodriguez.
Casemiro allowed the two other midfielders, Toni Kroos and Luca Modric to take more control of the game and create more chances. N’Golo Kante would not only be a quality cover for the position, but will also improve Real Madrid’s midfield in terms of class.
If we look at the stats of both Kante and Casemiro, we will see that the Frenchman surpasses the Brazilian in almost every aspect of gameplay.
Kante is currently valued at $20 million by transfermarkt.co.uk. Apart from Real Madrid, Arsenal and Manchester City are also interested in signing the player.
