Paul Pogba seems to be unsure of his future with Italian ball club Juventus and rumors are swirling that he intends to come back to play for Manchester United.
Juventus reportedly wants a $134 million deal for him to re-sign with Juventus that made Real Madrid close down their offer as they doubt he is worth that much. Manchester United, on the other hand, has opened their bidding price and has stated that they would match the offer just to sign the French midfielder.
Interviewed during the ESPY awards night held in Los Angeles, the 23-year old Frenchman told reporters that he is yet to make up his mind on where he wishes to play, as reported by Telegraph. He added that he is happy playing for Juventus and considers it as his family. But when asked about his thoughts of a reunion with United, Pogba paused and stated that it is his “first family.”
“[Juventus] This is my team, my family, where I am playing. I am happy there, I play football, and do things I wanted to do when I was small. [United] I don’t know this one” before adding it was “my first club, my first family,” Pogba explained.
United has been pursuing Pogba this summer and is willing to match Juventus’ asking price should they intend to sell the Frenchman to them. United manager Jose Mourinho stated that Pogba is a key acquisition that would further boost United’s chances this year.
Though Pogba has been reported to have an interest in playing for Real Madrid, but a return to United, where he played at the youth level before joining Juventus in 2012, is still an open option for him.
Mourinho has made some striking deals this summer during his tenure as United manager. They have been able to secure the services of Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. But Mourinho is not yet done in putting up the pieces that would make United a title contender again. He obviously wants to take in Pogba before the start of the English Premier League season that would ultimately make them favorites as well.
