David Beckham named People’s “Sexiest Man Alive”

David Beckham is one soccer’s most recognized faces globally, a devoted husband and father, and a sought after product endorser. Now, the ageless British heartthrob has been named as this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine.

And we couldn’t agree more.

David-Beckham-PeopleFor the upcoming issue (out Friday), Beckham told People that he hardly thinks of himself as a sex symbol, but that he was “pleased to accept” the title.

“It’s the best moment of my career,” the 40-year-old Beckham joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Recently.

“I would obviously like to thank my parents for bringing me into this world, of course. I would like to thank my hairdresser, my stylist (and) Photoshop,” he laughed.

Although he’s long been considered as the “most desirable” man on earth, the soccer great does not see himself as such. In fact, he thinks he is not worthy of the praise.

“I never feel that I’m an attractive, sexy person,” Beckham shares in this week’s cover story.

“I mean I like to wear nice clothes and nice suits and look and feel good, but I don’t ever think of myself that way,” he added.

Still, Beckham gladly shared the news with his wife, former Spice Girl and fashion icon Victoria, and their four children, Brooklyn (16), Romeo (13), Cruz (10), and Harper (4).

“We kind of laughed about it with the boys and the boys kind of laughed at me and said, ‘Really?! Sexiest man alive? Really?’,” he shared.

Before hanging up his cleats in 2013, Beckham has collected 19 major trophies, became the first Englishman to win league titles in four countries, and saw action for England in three World Cup appearances.

Beckham now joins the likes of Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum, and Adam Levine, among others, in People magazine’s elite list of honorees.
