Kobe Bryant is ecstatic about rookie D’Angelo Russell’s future, despite all the recent controversies over the leaked video with teammate Nick Young. The Lakers’ legend thinks Russell’s ability and desire to learn sets him apart.
Russell has put the Los Angeles Lakers in troubled waters after the recent incident involving Nick Young, but the experienced Bryant sees Russell getting over it. Bryant made an appearance on ESPN LA 710’s Mason and Ireland on Wednesday, where he hailed the rookie guard Russell’s attitude towards the game.
Bryant clarified that Russell’s ambition and desire to learn and develop different aspects of the game makes him a pleasing prospect to go along way in the league. The Lakers’ veteran also pointed out that the franchise made a bold move by picking Russell over Jahlil Okafor as a second overall pick in the last season’s NBA draft, according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters.
The 20-year-old Russell is fortunate with the the Lakers will be heading to the NBA offseason within a week’s time. This gives the rookie the required time to evaluate his mistakes and get over it. He also gets the time to repair his reputation, which is a call of the hour for the rookie to move forward with the franchise. Bryant’s certificate could be a great inspiration for Russell in this regard.
Bryant will be retiring at the end of this season. The Lakers’ camp is eyeing to finish on a high note in the meantime to bid farewell to the legendary star.
