He is slowly on his way to recovery, but he may soon face bigger challenges when he regains full consciousness.
Prosecutors are highly considering a felony drug charge against former NBA superstar Lamar Odom after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel.
Nye Country District Lawyer Angela Bello said that the sheriff’s office has submitted the possible charge last week, while a prosecutor is considering filing a count of unlawful use of cocaine or being under the influence of a controlled substance.
It was last October 13 when the former reality TV star was brought to the hospital after he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel. The former LA Laker and husband of Khloe Kardashian was given treatment in a Las Vegas hospital.
Odom has two NBA championships tucked under his belt which he won with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010. He last saw action in the league back in 2013, then he gain reality TV fame through his partner, Khloe.
Bello declined to go into details on what is expected to be an investigation that can last for months by their office.
“The D.A’s office will take the time needed to appropriately review that request, along with all evidence that might support that request, in order to reach a just conclusion whether to advance charges.”
Law enforcement officials went to Sunrise Hospital in Vegas to take blood samples from the 36-year-old Odom. The said sample will be used for a toxicology test.
Authorities are investigating a possible cocaine overdose. He has battled addiction issues in the past. For now, Odom is on his way to recovery and is being treated at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Odom’s wife Khloe revealed that, last week, Odom has not asked why he has a brain injury, and that he’s often confused, sometimes unaware of his age.
