Nike officially launched Lebron James newest signature shoes, Lebron 13, on Sunday. The signature shoes coincides with James’ 13th season in the NBA and his ninth with the Cleveland Cavaliers, reported the Sports Illustrated. The exclusive shoe releases for retail next month.
The 30-year-old Cavs’ forward, Lebron James, is a four-time MVP and two-time NBA champion.
During a launch event in Akron on Sunday, Nike revealed that Lebron James’ line of signature shoes is the best selling signature shoe of any active player.
According to NBC Sports, “The company touts the sock-like feel of the shoe as well as how it is built to handle LeBron’s explosiveness (and yours too, although to a lesser degree, let’s be real here). The shoe also pays homage to Akron, according to the official announcement.”
The Lebron 13 design inspiration reflects James’ hometown roots in Akron, Ohio. Unique elements to each colorway come to life in five locations on each shoe: tongue top, tongue embellishment, heel tab, Swoosh graphic and inside heel. Additional nods to James come through specific details in each colorway, including outsole elements and a LeBron logo on the toe and heel tab.
The shoe which is “Built for explosiveness” is inspired by James’ hometown Akron, and has specific features areas “that will be the focal point of each colorway and story telling: the top of the tongue, tongue design detail, the heel tab, the Swoosh on the forefoot, and the inside heel,” reports Yahoo.
The shoe makes its retail debut in China on Oct. 1 and the global release on Oct. 10.
The Lebron 13 has seen some modifications from the previous Lebron 12 version. With changes made to the size, placement and increased durability without compromising on the flexibility, the 13 millimetre Hexagonal Zoom air units will add comfort at peak pressure points.
