Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu to Manchester City this summer. However, the 26-year-old German international revealed that he has had no contact from Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola regarding a transfer and that he is happy to play for the Los Blancos next season.
“No, my crude answer is. I don’t have any worries, no.” Kroos said, on being asked about his switch away from the Bernabeu, as reported by ESPN. The midfielder also stressed on the fact that he does not fear of being sold for fresh faces at Real Madrid.
The 2014 World Cup winner blamed the media for hyping up various transfer stories which has no evidence. The rumors have spiced up even more given that Kroos’s Real Madrid play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final.
Having had two very good years with Real Madrid, Kroos believes that he is an integral part of the Zinedine Zidane led team and would be happy to play for the club longer. The man from Greifswald, East Germany has been a central figure in the Madrid midfield and believes that fate has good things waiting for him.
Meanwhile, Kroos has immense respect for Guardiola and has praised the Spaniard for changing how the game is perceived in Germany. The 45-year-old Guardiola highlighted the importance of midfield players and how they could have a major dominance in the game.
“We owe that to Pep Guardiola with his distinctive love for midfielders and also to Joachim Low [national team coach], who has a similar approach.” Kroos said.
Despite praising the Spaniard for revolutionizing the game, Kroos has taken his decision of not leaving Real Madrid, at least for this season.
