NBA 2015: Jeff Green Dunk with 0.5 Seconds Lifts Memphis Grizzlies Past Phoenix Suns

A thrilling finish with a thriller of a shot is what went down for the Grizzlies over the Suns. Jeff Green completed a scintillating dunk off an alley-oop from Courtney Lee with less than a second left to complete a 95-93 upset win for the Memphis over Phoenix.

The Suns had the chance to tie the game, or even win it with a triple had Eric Bledsoe’s shot went it. Phoenix suffer their fourth straight setback.

Memphis was in control with less than two minutes left in play with a comfortable six-point cushion at 93-87. Alex Len and P.J Tucker teamed up to put the Suns back in the game, tying the count at 93-all.

The Suns had the chance for a go-ahead basket but fumbled their way to convert it. Lee was assigned to inbound the ball from the baseline. He spotted Green at the right side near the basket for an alley-oop pass which Green converted into a dunk and the game-winner.

“We felt like, we didn’t play great. Towards the end, we kind of shot ourselves in the foot.” Said Memphis Coach Dave Joerger.

There were 13 lead changes and nine deadlocks, most of which happened in the second half where both teams were rallying behind each other. In the payoff period, the lead swung eight times, and both teams forged their way to six deadlocks.

The Grizzlies only led by two, 43-41 at the intermission.  Marc Gasol scattered 22 points. Four other Grizzlies scored in double figures.

Eric Bledsoe led the Suns with 23 points, seven boards, and six assists on a losing cause. Phoenix still missed the services of Tyson Chandler due to a hamstring injury. It was the fifth game he missed for this season.

The next game for the Suns will be against Chicago on Monday night, with the Bulls hosting them. Memphis will be taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night at the Grizzlies’ home court.
