Dwight Powell makes a monster throwdown in the Dallas Mavericks win over the Minnesota Timberwolves to outshine Joe Johnson’s Heat debut in the NBA Top 10 Plays on Sunday.
Joe Johnson making his debut in a Miami Heat uniform may have been the highlight on Sunday night, but Dallas Mavericks Dwight Powell made his mark with a poster dunk in the top play of a seven-game night in the NBA.
Powell scored his only two points of the match in heavy traffic off a nifty pass by JJ Barea late in the fourth quarter of the Mavericks’ 128-101 rout of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Also, Joe Johnson made a successful debut for the Miami Heat in their 98-81 win over the New York Knicks. Dwyane Wade scored 26 points, while Johnson added 12 for the Heat.
The Washington Wizards, on the other hand, took advantage of a Cleveland Cavaliers squad without LeBron James and pulled off a 113-99 win at home. John Wall and Otto Porter, Jr. each scored 21.
In other results, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 87-76; Orlando Magic winning over the Philadelphia 76ers, 130-116; Portland Trail Blazers defeating the Indiana Pacers on the road, 111-102; and Detroit Pistons downing division rival Toronto Raptors, 114-101.
Check out Sunday’s NBA Top 10, which also includes All Stars Paul George making a nifty zip pass behind the back, and Dwyane Wade showing off some classic above the rim skills.
