ONE Championship: Lakay fighters victorious in ‘Clash of Heroes’ card; Eric Kelly loses to Ev Ting

Team Lakay stalwarts Eduard “Landslide” Folayang and Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio gained convincing wins, while fellow Baguio native Eric Kelly falls in featherweight eliminator against Ev Ting.

TEAM LAKAY mixed martial arts veterans Eduard “Landslide” Folayang and Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio picked up respective victories, while Eric “The Natural” Kelly fell to a determined Ev “ET” Ting in the main event of ONE Championship “Clash of Heroes” at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Folayang, who took a year off from fighting after a devastating knockout loss to Timofey Nastyukhin, picked up a unanimous decision victory over Japanese foe Tetsuya Yamada in a three-round encounter in the undercard.

On the other hand, Eustaquio – whose scheduled fight against Yang Jian Bing last December was cancelled due to his opponent’s untimely death – crushed Malaysian opponent Saiful Mercan in a quick first round stoppage.

Eustaquio, still smarting from a tough fight against Anatpong Bunrad that ended in controversial split decision loss, made sure that the result will be decided on his terms by landing a crushing blow to Mercan and then delivering a swift soccer kick to force Joey Lepiten to halt the bout at the 1:21 mark of the round.

Folayang moved up to 15-5 (won-lost), while Eustaquio improved to 7-4.

However, the Filipinos’ dominance in the 10-match fight card was halted in the main event, as Ev “ET” Ting forced Eric Kelly to tap out on a guillotine choke at the 1:58 mark in the third and final round to gain the number one contender tag in the featherweight division.
