It wasn’t even close for Talk ‘N Text as Rain or Shine Elastopainters take the last Semi-Finals spot against the San Miguel Beermen with a blowout win, 104-89.
Rain or Shine were led by Raymond Almazan who scored 15 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots to bag the best player of the game honors. But Almazan wasn’t alone as six teammates of his had scored double figures as well.
“We had a chance during our game against NLEX to make our work easier in the semis but God doesn’t us to go the easy way but instead the hard way,” said Almazan in Tagalog
“We finally were able to finish what we weren’t able to finish against NLEX,” said Rain or Shine coach – Yeng Guiao. “We had a chance to make the semis (with) the short route but we have to go through the long route. It’s probably because we were not ready the first time.”
Guiao thinks that being not in the top two positions in the PBA Semi-Finals was a positive thing for the team as he admittedly said that this team is not ready and they needed to take the long route by beating Blackwater Elite and Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters to toughen up.
“You cant get to the semi-finals if you are not ready. We have to go through the long route to get ourselves ready. We are more prepared now (rather than) than if we have gone through the short route, we may have been in the semi-finals but we are not as ready right now. It is a blessing in disguise. We have to go through the hard way. This is just going to toughen us up going to the semi-finals. We want to look at this thing in a positive way.”
In a losing effort, the ‘Blur’ – Jayson Castro fought valiantly for Talk ‘N Text by putting up 25 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
