“It was almost the same story all over again but fortunately for us – it has a different ending,” said Rain or Shine Head Coach Yeng Guiao, who recalls blowing a 22-point lead in the first game of the series.

“We couldn’t afford to make the same mistake we did in Game 1, if we are down 0-2 this series is over. With San Miguel you really can’t get back from 0-2. It is important for us to win it and make it a best-of-5 series. We are now starting all over again,” Guiao added.

The much needed win gave Rain or Shine the needed morale boost in coming to Game 3 which will be played this Saturday, January 9 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“It just gives us confidence that lead San Miguel with more than 20-points in two consecutive games. We only won one. But the fact that we can do it to a team as strong as San Miguel gives us a lot of confidence that we have a chance in this series.”

San Miguel clawed their way back once again from 25 points down to 4 points to give Rain or Shine a scare but they were not as lucky as compared to Game 1.

Junmar Fajardo

On a losing stand, Jun Mar Fajardo led San Miguel once again with 37 points and 17 rebounds but he only sank 13 out of 22 free throws in the game in which some were crucial for the team’s comeback.
