Manchester United supporters are growing confident with each passing day that Paul Pogba will be a Red Devil. Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri however is “counting” on the France international to stay with the Bianconeri, at least for one more season.
“The France internationals will return on August 7. Both [Patrice] Evra and Pogba? They are both Juventus players, and I hope they will stay. I am counting on Pogba.” Allegri said, as reported by Goal.com.
Allegri also highlighted the fact that Pogba wants to win a Champions League medal with Juventus. This statement from the Juventus manager comes at a time when his superstar midfielder is being heavily tipped to join Manchester United for a world record transfer fee.
Meanwhile, United manager Jose Mourinho is acting super confident of capturing Pogba this summer. French publication L’Equipe has stated that the Portuguese is confident that a deal will be struck for the player between both the clubs.
Mourinho and Manchester United want to make a statement signing this summer showing the world that even without Champions League football, the club remains one of the biggest draws for the best players. Signing Pogba will make that statement. The same could be said for Juventus, who are looking to build a team capable of winning the Champions League and retaining Pogba will serve that purpose.
Pogba made a total of 35 appearances for Juventus last season in which he had a pass accuracy of 83%. He created 54 chances for the team, winning 51% of his duels, earning 10 yellow cards in the process. He also scored 8 goals in the Serie A last season, according to Squawka.
Juventus may offer Pogba a shot at the Champions League title in the upcoming season, but Manchester United will offer him an exorbitant amount of money, where he could achieve a similar feat, a few years down the line.
