Selena Gomez was in the stands when the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 106-102 in what was Kobe Bryant’s final game in San Antonio, a place where he had memorable regular season and playoff performances throughout his career.
Gomez, a diehard Spurs fan who claims she was a fan of the Texas team since she was 5 years old, did not hide which team she was rooting for as she cheered the Spurs while in Tony Parker jersey.
Gomez reportedly attended the Spurs-Lakers game with her cousin and godson.
The Spurs Twitter account made sure Gomez’s affiliation with their team was recording on this night:
Gomez, who was born in Texas, is one of the most popular singers/actors in her generation. She is also an executive producer, fashion designer and philanthropist.
The game was surprisingly close between one of the Western Conference’s best teams and the conference’s worst team. The Spurs improved to 43-8 and 28-0 at home after the win and the Lakers dropped to 11-42.
Kobe Bryant had another rare good performance with 25 points but made just 9-of-28 shots. Jordan Clarkson had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists while Julius Randle posted a double-double of 17 points and 14 rebounds.
The Spurs had a double-digit lead in the first half but the Lakers came back and cut the lead to 54-51 by halftime. The Lakers even had an 81-79 lead entering the final quarter.
For the winning side, the Spurs were led by LaMarcus Aldridge, who had 26 points and 9 rebounds and Kawhi Leonard, who posted a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds. Point guards Tony Parker and Patty Mills added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
