Stanley Cup Final between Bruins and Blackhawks to start Wednesday

The much anticipated Stanley Cup Final between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins is set to begin on Wednesday.

The NHL announced Sunday the dates, times and network carriers for the all Original Six final, the first since 1979.

Game 1 will be held on Wednesday night at Chicago’s United Center. Game 2 is set for Saturday at the same place.

Games 3 and 4 will shift back to Boston’s TD Garden on Monday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 19 respectively.

If necessary, Games 5 through 7 will be Saturday, June 22, Monday, June 24 and Wednesday, June 26. Games 5 and 7 would be in Chicago, while the Eastern Conference Champion Bruins would host Game 6.

NBC and NBC Sports Network will have the games for the American market. NBC will carry Games 1 and 4, and also Games 5-7 if the series goes that far. NBC Sports Network will televise Games 2 and 3.

CBC and RDS will carry all the games for Canadian viewers.

All the games are set to begin at 8 pm Eastern time.

The Blackhawks and Bruins didn’t meet during the lockout-shortened season. The last time the two teams played was October 15, 2011 with Boston winning 3-2 in a shootout.
