Lesnar is seen in the thick of things as he will still have to get through Mark Hunt at UFC 200 that will take face this weekend for his one-off fight. The WWE is hoping that Lesnar would not get any serious injuries in his fight as they plan to hype his SummerSlam match with Orton before the fight. However, putting Orton inside the ring with Lesnar might be put to question as fans will surely see more suplexes that might trigger Orton’s shoulder and neck injuries. It seems Orton knows that he will be facing Lesnar one way or the other and the much-needed rest could have been the factor for his long absence in the WWE.
The Inquisitr noted that Lesnar was slated to face Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam as the two have been hype with their feud dating back in April. But with injuries plaguing Wyatt, the WWE decided to look for another WWE superstar who could best fit for Lesnar’s opponent come to SummerSlam.
Even betting sites have listed Orton to be Lesnar’s opponent. Other WWE superstars namely Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens have also surfaced as possible list of opponents at SummerSlam. It was announced on Raw that Lesnar’s opponent for SummerSlam will be announced on Thursday’s edition of SmackDown.
