Team Australia plans a huge upset against Team USA; Andrew Bogut, Matthew Dellavedova to step up for Boomers

Team Australia will be facing Team USA in the 2016 Rio Olympics men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday night. Though Team USA is predicted to win the game, Andrew Bogut and Matthew Dellavedova are expected to step up for the Aussie team and aim for victory.

Many people are still doubting the capability of Team Australia to beat the mighty Team USA. The Americans are indeed the most favorite team to win the gold. They just showed in their first two games that they are still a superior team even without LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook on their side.

Being labelled as the underdog, Team Australia entered the 2016 Rio Olympics with a huge upset against Team France. Before the start of the Olympic games, France and Spain were predicted to give a potential headache to the Americans. However, it seems like the predictions went wrong as both teams already suffered losses in their first two games.

Andrew Bogut gave a message for his undefeated Australian teammates before they face the Team USA.

“If we go out there and are we’re intimidated by them and trying to get our shoes signed before the game, and a signed jersey, then we’re in the wrong mind-set,” said Bogut, the 31-year-old NBA veteran who was recently traded from the Golden State Warriors to the Dallas Mavericks. “(Facing the Americans is) the ultimate test. It’s the best team in the world, the best players in the world, so I think if we go out there with the right mind-set and compete with them, win or lose we’ll be happy with that.”

The 31-year-old center is concern that his teammates might lose their focus even before the game starts. However, some people believe that this could not be a major problem since their starters are currently playing in the NBA.

Matthew Dellavedova and Patty Mills have proven that they are one of the most dangerous backcourt tandems in the Rio Olympics. In their game against Serbia, ‘Delly’ played the best of his career. The Milwaukee Bucks guard 23 points and 13 assists against the Team Serbia.

Andrew Bogut, Aron Baynes, Joe Ingles, Patty Mills and Matthew Dellavedova are expected to start for Team Australia. Team USA might be holding the advantage in terms of depth and skill but if the Aussie team keeps their focus in the game, they could establish a huge upset in basketball history.
