Apple Inc. is still fresh with its release of its latest smartphone flagship in September but rumors are already rife about next year’s iPhone 8. This is because next year is the 10th year anniversary of the iPhone. The tech giant has definitely something major planned to celebrate the occasion.
Reports suggest that next year’s iPhone, believed as iPhone 8, is the best iPhone to date. With an all-glass, curved OLED display, Apple is gearing for a radical redesign. Not to mention revolutionary features that will determine the smartphone industry.
Apple will reportedly skip the S phase next year in marking the iPhone’s 10th anniversary. The iPhone 8 is being designed in Israel, while the manufacturing will take place in China, according to LearnBonds.
iPhone 8 To Feature Curved OLED Display
Macrumor reports that the iPhone 8 will use a flexible OLED rather than an LCD. It will not only save power but it will also have a better display with better color contrasts for darker and deeper shades and more true to life colors. The tech giant is reportedly in talks with Sharp to supply OLED displays to use in iPhone 8.
Additionally, Nikkei Asian Review suggests that Apple may introduce models with curved screens on both sides. The curved model, similar to Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, will be a 5.5in device and is likely to be more expensive than the standard edition.
Edge-To-Edge Screen with No Home Button
According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a reliable analyst for Apple rumors, the iPhone 8 will have design similarities with the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. It means that it could feature an edge-to-edge, all-glass display to make it less scratch prone. The device will use an aluminum or stainless steel metal casing.
Business Insider reports that the iPhone 8 will be bezel-free, with the iconic home button built directly into the screen. John Gruber, who is a famous Apple blogger and podcaster suggests that the 2017 iPhone will have no border or bezels.
Long-distance wireless charging
Numerous reports suggest that the iPhone 8 may come with long-range wireless charging ability. The tech company is reportedly at work in building a technology to charge the device remotely. If this works, it could the constant worry of battery drainage if the device can be wirelessly tethered to a charger.
There are also reports claiming that Apple hired engineers to begin work on wireless charging technology. Discussions are also underway with suppliers for wireless charging chips, accordng to rumors. However, this just speculation and rumors at this point.
iPhone 8 to feature 3D Camera
The Korean Economic Daily reports that Apple could release next year’s iPhone 8 with a 3D camera. The tech company will apparently partner with LG to fit iPhone 8 with a 3D camera technology. An excerpt from the outlet’s report goes:
“Apple is now studying how to apply its 3D camera technology into LG Innotek’s smartphone camera. Since LG Innotek also has its own 3D camera and related technologies, such joint efforts will likely to bear fruit sometime within next year.”
