Tennessee Titans look into hiring Gregg Williams

Tennessee Titans have shown interest in hiring suspended defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.

NFL.com reports that Williams has been suspended by Commissioner Roger Goodell for playing a part in the New Orleans’ Saints bounty program. Williams must be reinstated before he can be hired anywhere. The league has not discussed Williams’ possible reinstatement. However Williams has been allowed to start pursuing jobs.

Williams was the defensive coordinator for the Saints from 2009-2011 and then last season was hired by St. Louis. He has worked with Munchak, defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, and Titans owner Bud Adams.

Associated Press reports that Titans coach Mike Munchak has discussed with Williams about the position. Munchak has not responded to any media since the last day of the season.

Last season, the Titans were 6-10 and definitely need help with their defense. Their defense allowed 471 points, setting the franchise record. Williams has been a defensive coordinator for the Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars, and then the Saints. He has the experience the Titans may need.
