With Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s finalized commitment for Laver Cup 2017, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic remain tight-lipped about joining the said event. For tennis legends John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg, having the Djokovic-Murray rivalry present will be the key to the event’s success.

One of the promoters of Laver Cup 2017 is Roger Federer’s management company. The event is supported by Tennis Australia. Part of the event’s format is to witness two legends, John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg, serve as captains of two teams.

From there, it would be a stunning moment to see tennis rivals from different generations competing together in one event. For Roger Federer, it’d be a great comeback after missing many tournaments this year.

This is because the 34-year-old Swiss champion faced health troubles this year wherein he has to compromise his Grand Slam titles for the first time. For him, this year is considerably his worst nightmare in his entire career as a sportsman.

He suffered several health issues such as acquiring an accident that lead to an unexpected knee injury and surgery at the same time. Federer agonized from stomach virus and back pain. These happened continuously from the early 2016.

Currently, he’s resuming his practices to regain his strength and to keep his body in shape that hint a stronger comeback. In addition to what he affirmed, he will be joining the nearing Laver Cup 2017 with his Spanish rival Rafael Nadal on September 22 to 24 next year.

According to USA Today, the tennis legends John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg were also looking forward for Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray to take part in this affair.

Lately, Roger Federer revealed that both Murray and Djokovic have some issues in terms of taking part of Laver Cup 2017. Their camps are yet to finalize the athletes’ confirmation to attend due to the unclear appearance fees.

According to Daily Mail UK, discussions between the camps are on-going. However, Federer remained hopeful that fees won’t be a big block for these two remarkable athletes to take part in the once-in-a-lifetime event.

“I hope it’s not going to be an issue. I would see this as something beautiful. Why not spend a cool, fun weekend with these kinds of captains? The future will tell,” he told Daily Mail UK.
