Tennis great Serena Williams is only one grand slam away from equaling Steffi Graf’s record of slam domination in the open era. Serena who has 21 grand slams to her name is still in her prime and is considered among the most feared tennis players on the court by her peers.
Former German tennis legend Steffi Graf believes she knows the reason behind Serena Williams’ success on the court.
“Serena has the most powerful serve of all time in women’s tennis by far. And her physical strength…simply no one showed anything similar in this sport.” Graf said, as reported by ESPN.
The 46-year-old also believes that Serena will surpass her and it won’t be long before she does that.
“I am sure Serena will pass me. Let’s be honest, all of us think she will do it. And she will do it soon.” Graf added.
Despite believing that Serena Williams will surpass her, Graf doesn’t feel that her achievement in the game would be cancelled in any way. It has to be noted that the girl from Mannheim, West Germany won all the four grand slams in 1988 and went on to win the Olympic gold medal in Seoul.
Serena Williams will take part in the upcoming Sony Miami Open which will start from March 21, 2016. The event will take place in Key Biscayne, Florida and will include big name tennis stars like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.
