Rafael Nadal promised in recent seasons that he is still not done with the sport and aims to get back into top form. The Spaniard delivered recently and got his first back-to-back ATP tennis titles of the season and his comeback has drawn the attention of former top players and the current World No. 1.
Rafael Nadal, who has admitted to struggling mentally with his game, is being praised by some popular names in the sport including Pete Sampras and Novak Djokovic.
“He is so good, so powerful,” Sampras, who is considered one of the greatest players in the sport, said via Tennis World.
“He just plays fantastic tennis,” Djokovic said in the same article maybe feeling the pressure of going up against his rival in future tournaments. Djokovic is favored to win the next Grand Slam, the 2016 French Open, but Nadal’s history in his favorite surface makes the Spaniard a dangerous threat even with the injury and mental problems in recent years.
“Monte Carlo is important for him, for the way he is playing I think he can do very well,” Bjorn Borg, also one of the greatest players in history, said of Nadal’s recent performance at Monte Carlo.
Rafael Nadal has two ATP titles so far this year and improved his 2016 record to 22 wins against 6 losses. He beat Kei Nishikori in the final of the Barcelona Open and Gael Monfils in the championship round of the Monte Carlo Masters.
