Wimbledon 2016 dates another power matches like Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber from Romania and Germany, respectively. Both of these players have outstanding performances recently. Thus, winning today’s match might be tough.
Many predicted that world No. 3-ranked Romanian Simona Halep would win the nearing Wimbledon 2016 quarterfinals today. In fact, she got 72% of the votes compared to 28% of Angelique Kerber in match-up polls and predictions.
Sports Chat Place explained why Halep has the higher probability to win the upcoming match against Germany’s Kerber. According to site, the former has won 53 of 78 first serve points plus 13 winners and 10 unforced errors.
With only 35 unforced errors in the last three matches, Kerber will find it hard to defeat such record. She only has won 22 of 34 first serve points compared to 53 of 78 of Halep’s. When it comes to unforced errors, Kerber doesn’t have much difference with nine.
One advantage Kerber needs to execute is her flawless tennis match wherein she doesn’t have that much errors compared to Halep. The same source mentioned she only has single digit unforced errors in the last three to four matches.
If she consistently implements this game style, she can be the darkhorse champion like in the previous Australian Open. If that happens, she can possibly make her fourth Grand Slam semifinal appearance.
The next Wimbledon 2016 match won’t be the first time since the two have already played four times against each other. In the most recent match, Kerber won against Halep. Hence, she might have the chance to have the same win for today’s Quarterfinals.
In terms of WTA Rankings, Simona Halep is in 5th place and Angelique Kerber 4th. On the other hand, both have 4,372 and 5,330 WTA points respectively.
Wimbledon 2016 Simona Halep vs Angelique Kerber Quarterfinal match is set today July 5, 2016 on Centre Court.
