Texans’ Tim Dobbins fined for hit on Jay Cutler

On Wednesday, the NFL fined Houston Texans linebacker Tim Dobbins $30,000 for his huge hit on Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler.

The hit was devastating, as Cutler was unable to play for the second half of the game due to a concussion he sustained. During the play, Cutler was scrambling out of the pocket before he got hit.

Dobbins defended the play after the game, before the league announced its fine.

CBS Sports reports that Dobbins said, “I did not hit him in his head, and actually he ran into me. I just felt like he was going to take off and run with the ball and I thought he was past the line.”

Dobbins even added to The Chicago Tribune, “I don’t think so and I hope not…I hit him in his chest. I did not hit him in his head. Nowhere near.”

Despite his statements, the game film looked completely different.

The Bears are set to face off against the San Francisco 49ers this Monday. However, Cutler’s status remains unknown.
