Tony Parker’s hamstring on the verge of tearing
Imagine playing in the NBA Finals knowing any second your hamstring may tear. It would be pretty difficult to keep that in the back of your mind. Well that’s what San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker will experience for Game 5 and perhaps the remainder of the Finals.
“My hamstring can tear any time now,” Parker said Saturday. “If it was the regular season, I would be resting like 10 days. But now it’s the NBA Finals. If it gets a tear, it’s life.”
The hamstring was noticeably bothering Parker as Game 4 lingered, and as the Associated Press notes, Parker’s scoring average has dropped to 13.8 points in the Finals, down from his 20.3 average in the regular season.
Parker though, was able to shoot around with his teammates during Saturday’s portion of practice that was open to the media, SI.com reports.
“It feels good, it feels good,” Parker said of his hamstring. “I feel like I’m getting stronger with it. My goal is to be close to 100 percent by [Sunday].”
When asked about Parker, Gregg Popovich in all of his Popovichian glory had a simple response: “He’s fine.”
Well, alright then.
