Top DT Andrew Brown commits to Virginia

The top defensive tackle in the nation, Andrew Brown, has committed to the Virginia Cavaliers.

According to Brown choose his home state team over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Clemson and in state rival Virginia Tech. The highly rated Brown is a consensus five star recruit and has been one of the most sought after prospects in the 2014 class.

Brown soared up the rankings after his junior year posting 83 tackles, and 11 sacks during the season for Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake Virginia. At 6-foot-4, 298 lbs. the defensive tackle is considered to be a dominating force, which quickly caught the interest of many top ranked schools across the nation.

Throughout the process Brown remained firm in his top choice and on June 29 he made it verbally official. In a statement posted on ESPN Brown said, “It starts with Mike London, I trust him and all the other coaches at UVA.” He added “I have a special bond with him that nobody else could replicate.”

With the recent commitment from Brown the Cavaliers now have 9 members in their 2014 recruiting class that currently ranks 31st in the country.
