Tracy McGrady headed overseas to China
Shooting guard/small forward Tracy McGrady said his farewells to America and to the NBA as he heads to China to play for the Qingdao DoubleStar Eagles.
The deal that McGrady signed is uncertain but it is reportedly worth $1 million for one year.
Despite going overseas, McGrady is well known in China. During his days in Houston, he played along side with Yao Ming.
Before going overseas, reports Yahoo Sports, during his free agency period, McGrady had a hard time finding a team that was willing to take him. He worked out for the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs, but neither decided to sign him.
During his years in the NBA, McGrady had his amazing prime years before dwindling down due to injuries.
During his prime years, McGrady played for the Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magics, and Houston Rockets averaging 19.6 points per game, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists.
Last season however, his average fell down to 5.3 points per game, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while he came off the bench for the Atlanta Hawks, according to Sporting News NBA.
McGrady’s decision to go overseas is a significant loss to the basketball community.
