TV Recap: Seahawks Beat Rams 16-6 on ‘Sunday Night Football’
The Seattle Seahawks have done something that has never been done before: Stumble into the playoffs with a losing record.
The Seahawks beat the St. Louis Rams 16-6 on Sunday Night Football. With the win, the Seahawks have clinched the NFC West, which has been called the weakest division in the league.
“There [are] no apologies for making it into the playoffs. The easiest way to make it to the playoffs is to win your division, period, point-blank,” Seattle safety Lawyer Milloy said. “We did that.”
Seahawks backup quarterback Charlie Whitehurst finished with 192 yards and one touchdown in his second career start. Whitehurst threw the only touchdown in the game, a four-yard pass to Mike Williams in the first quarter. By halftime, the Seahawks were up 7-3.
At the start of the second half, nothing was going right with the Rams offense. They couldn’t reach the end zone for the second time this season. Rams quarterback Sam Bradford ended the game completing 19-of-36 passes for 155 yards and one interception.
“I don’t even know if I can tell you right now,” Bradford said of his frustration. “The fact our defense played, in my opinion, pretty great, the fact that we let the team down, that we couldn’t get anything going, that’s what really hurts.”
Good defense from the Seahawks and missed opportunities resulted in Rams kicker Josh Brown scoring all the points for his team.
