Viktor Stalberg returns to Chicago Blackhawks for Game 3

The Chicago Blackhawks put speed back into their lineup for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals as Viktor Stalberg will return for Game 3.

Stalberg was benched for the first two games of the series because he hasn’t produced in the postseason. Stalberg, who was a one–time 22 goal scorer, hasn’t scored a goal in the playoffs, according to USA Today Sports.  Brandon Bollig replaced Stalberg in the first two games. A defensive error by Bollig in Game 2 led to Boston’s game winning goal.

Stalberg is excited to be back in the Blackhawks lineup.

“It’s never fun watching from the sidelines,” Stalberg told the Chicago Tribune. “I’m excited to get back in and hopefully go out there and play my game.”

This wasn’t the first time that Stalberg has had to watch from the sidelines this postseason. The Chicago Tribune reports that Stalberg also sat out the first two games of the Western Conference semi-finals against the Detroit Red Wings.

Stalberg, who is an unrestricted free agent after this season, has three assists in 15 playoff games.
