WWE Rumors: Dean Ambrose losing WWE championship at Battleground?

Dean Ambrose finally won the WWE World Heavyweight championship last Sunday after cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase on Seth Rollins. However, the latest WWE rumors suggest that Ambrose will be a paper champion as he is going to lose the WWE title at Battleground.

Many fans were shocked when Rollins went over cleanly against Roman Reigns to win his second WWE championship at the Money in the Bank main event. The night just got better at that point when Ambrose attacked Rollins and cashed in to win the WWE title. However, the fun will not last since The Lunatic may be losing it very quickly.

According to the Wrestling Observer (h/t Cageside Seats), Ambrose will not be given a lengthy run as WWE champion and there is a huge possibility that he will drop it at Battleground. He is set to defend the WWE title in a Triple Threat Match against Rollins and Reigns.

It will be very interesting to see which direction the WWE goes as the past three championship reigns of Roman Reigns were unsuccessful. He was reportedly a bad draw, the ratings were down, he’s still not over the crowd and he recently got suspended for his first violation of the WWE Wellness Policy.

On the other hand, Rollins is a better option if WWE decides to end the run of Ambrose. He was gaining a lot of momentum before he suffered a knee injury in November. However, the ratings while he was champion were also not that great.

The WWE needs to see how the fans receive Ambrose as the WWE champion before pulling the plug on his title reign. His first Monday Night Raw as champion brought up big ratings as the average number of viewers went up by 31 percent, per 411 Mania.

Nonetheless, WWE chairman Vince McMahon has the final say on who will be the WWE champion. But because he is Vincent Kennedy McMahon and he owns the damn company, he will shove Roman Reigns to everyone’s throats once again.
