WWE Rumors: Seth Rollins making his return at Payback?

Former WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins has been out since November 2015 after suffering a knee injury. According to the latest WWE rumors, Rollins will be backstage at Sunday’s Payback event in Chicago and could be making a surprise return.

In a report by the Daily Wrestling News, the injured WWE superstar is expected to be present this Sunday to discuss plans for his return. However, it should be noted that there is no confirmation about Rollins appearing on camera.

The 29-year-old wrestler underwent surgery last November to repair a torn ACL, MCL and medial meniscus on his right knee. His doctors gave him six to nine months to recover but it was revealed in a social media post last month that he has been cleared to return to training.

Related WWE Rumors: Seth Rollins to return at SummerSlam?

According to Cageside Seats, there is a rumor of Rollins not being inserted into the main event picture once he makes his official return to WWE television sometime in May. The WWE has been missing some of its top stars to injuries and the return of a former WWE World champion would need to be a big deal.

FanSided listed possible angles Rollins could make his way back to WWE storylines. Some of the ideas include helping The Authority, getting involved in The McMahon Family feud, attacking Roman Reigns or win the Money in the Bank contract again.

When Rollins received the 2015 Superstar of the Year Award in last year’s Slammys, the crowd gave him a huge pop that is a sign that he will be a babyface in his return. It would be huge for ratings if he would come back and fight The Authority before reclaiming the WWE title he never lost.
