John Cena is undoubtedly the most recognizable face of WWE. He is just one title short of Ric Flair’s record of 16 WWE World Championship title.
However, there is one thing that John Cena is not a fan of. Speaking on the ‘Larry King Now’ show, John Cena revealed that he is not a fan of UFC.
“It’s done great to establish itself as a brand, but in comparison with us, it doesn’t resonate with me just because I’m a storyteller,” Cena said on the show. “I enjoy the story that we can tell in the ring and like I said, I think we do it better than everyone.”
Unlike Cena, there are a couple of WWE stars who love the mixed martial arts sport. Brock Lesnar, who is a former UFC champion is a huge fan of MMA. CM Punk left his WWE career to try his luck in the Octagon.
But there is something about mixed martial arts that John Cena does not like. In fact, by his own admission, he is simply not a “fan” of the sport.
“It truly has marketed itself extremely well. It has fantastic exposure. There’s no denying the athletic ability that it takes to step into the Octagon. It’s not something I could do,” Cena said.
“I’m not taking anything away from anyone in the UFC, because their success speaks for themselves but as far as it resonating with me, it’s just not something I’m a fan of.”
Speaking on the show, the WWE superstar also revealed that the wrestler from yesteryears he would most like to fight is ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. He also said that if opportunity comes he would hop in the ring with ‘Stone Cold’.
The 39-year-old who suffered a shoulder injury recently made a surprise appearance at Wrestlemania 32. He hopes to get back in the ring within a month.
“I’m pushing to try and get back within the month, if I can,” he said, reports Wrestling News World.
