World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) universe is waiting for the return of its biggest superstar John Cena on Memorial Day episode of Monday Night Raw. The Cenation leader was out of WWE programming as he was recovering from a shoulder surgery he went through in January, this year. The company is currently figuring out his top feuds once he returns on a full-time basis.
It will be very interesting to see how the WWE creative handles Cena considering his dynamic reception by the crowd. On one end he is the beloved superstar the kids love to see, while on the other end he is the hated baby face the adults love to loathe. Despite his character being stale for years, Cena is still a big draw in the company and business is always better for Vince McMahon when he is around.
The 39-year-old is expected to get heavily involved in the WWE programming once he returns and will build up towards a potential big feud for WWE SummerSlam 2016. Here are the opponents Cena is likely to feature against once he returns to full-time wrestling.
1) The Miz
A fight against The Miz may not be the big business idea that the company may produce, but this feud will be a believable feud. John Cena requires a win once he returns back to the company and who better for the fifteen-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion to beat than the hottest heel in the company at the moment. The entire universe will expect The Miz to get beaten by Cena and this is where the company may save itself from a bad booking. Both had a WrestleMania bout previously and that could be reignited once again.
A match against the Bulgarian Brute Rusev won’t be something new in the offering, but WWE is not known for brand new ideas recently. Rusev is currently the No. 1 contender for the United States Championship and it won’t be a surprise if he goes on to defeat Kalisto for the belt. This would set up a wonderful opportunity for Cena to win back the U.S. title and give the championship another decent run.
However, the only drawback of this bout is gifting Rusev another loss against Cena, thus halting his momentum once again.
3) Roman Reigns
This will be the biggest draw among the three potential feuds. A long-term feud with the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns would shoot Cena right back into the world title scene. Moreover, this will provide the universe to choose between whom to hate more. In the end WWE will make loads of money by promoting this match.
The company is pushing Roman Reigns as the next big thing and if the Samoan is able to beat Cena in a clean fight, some lost faith could be restored in the franchise player giving him some much needed credibility.
