As Randy Orton is on the road to recovery from his shoulder surgery, the “RKO” is making lots of noise of a comeback at WWE. Speculations are rife that he is scheduled for a WWE return at the SummerSlam Heat Wave Tour and will rekindle a feud with Sheamus.
Orton has been out of action since undergoing shoulder surgery back in February. But Raziel Cano, the marketing director for the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, tweeted that Orton was bound for a meeting with Sheamus prior to SummerSlam.
Orton injured his shoulder and told Wrestlinginc.com in April that his shoulder got stretched back and need surgery to correct it. Though many speculated that he dislocated his shoulder while taking out the trash at his home in St. Charles, Missouri.
“I had a match in Chicago. My shoulder got stretched back, and I had a repair 12 years ago that was destroyed. I had a little pain, got an MRI and was told (they) had to fix my shoulder again,” Orton explains. “I had a new guy do it and had stabilization done that they do to rugby players get, and they’re some tough customers.”
Orton added that his injury will not sideline him forever. He stated that he will make a comeback and that he still has a lot of wrestling inside of him. It was also noted that Orton will have a recurring guest role on the new USA Network show Shooter which premieres the same night as the WWE Draft. No official word has been sent out if Orton will take part in a ring action at SummerSlam, though speculations are linking him to a possible feud with Brock Lesnar.
“A couple months, maybe 3-4, 2 weeks. Maybe there’s an RKO out of nowhere (in Dallas). I’m not quite ready to be back on the road,” Orton says. “I still have 5-10 years left, but who knows? I feel like I’m nowhere near done.”
Orton will rekindle his feud with Sheamus dating back in 2015 Money in the Bank when Orton failed to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship contract ladder match, which was won by Sheamus. The two would continue on with their feud as both men attacked each other and faced off in various tag-team matches; Orton defeated Sheamus at Battleground but lost to Sheamus at SummerSlam.
Once again both Orton and Sheamus will go at it once more in the WWE Live scheduled on Aug. 13 at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The Orton-Sheamus bout will precede the main event which is the WWE championship title featuring Dean Ambrose against Alberto del Rio. The live event will also have a triple threat match for the WWE intercontinental championship that will have Cesaro vs. The Miz vs. Maryse.
Aside from Orton and Sheamus, also set to see action in the event that leads to SummerSlam 2016 are Dolph Ziggler, Enzo Amore & Big Cass, The Dudley Boyz, Lucha Dragons, The Shining Stars, Breezango, Baron Corbin, Becky Lynch, and Natalya.
