WWE superstar Randy Orton has been out of action due to a shoulder injury since October last year. According to the latest updates, Orton’s WWE return date has been revealed despite the rumors saying that he’s not been cleared by doctors.
The Viper was one of the casualties in the WWE injury bug that started late last year that also included John Cena, Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Tyson Kidd and Sami Zayn. He underwent surgery to repair the injured shoulder with rumors swirling that he also needs neck fusion surgery.
However, the WWE and Orton only confirmed the shoulder surgery while his recovery time suggests that no neck surgery happened. According to Wrestle Zone, the 36-year-old superstar is advertised for an upcoming live event at the At&T Center in San Antonio, Texas on August 28.
The tickets for the event are now for sale but expect changes on the card since the WWE brand extension is happening in July. On the other hand, it is not sure whether Orton will return near that date or even at an earlier schedule next month.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Cageside Seats) noted that Randy Orton has not been cleared to return yet but it is believed that it will happen anytime soon. Some people are expecting him to return after The Wyatt Family, who has been missing since Bray Wyatt’s leg injury in April.
It is very interesting to know which brand Orton will be assigned to once the brand extension happens before July 19. He’s been a mainstay in the WWE since 2003 and he is a 12-time WWE World Heavyweight champion.
Randy Orton is still relatively young for a wrestler at 36 years old and he has a lot left in the tank. He mentioned in previous interviews that he wants to wrestle some of the new superstars like A.J. Styles and Sami Zayn. He is also one of the rumored opponents for Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam this August.
