Seth Rollins makes a comeback at WWE Extreme Rules 2016

“Miss me?” tweeted the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins after his surprise appearance at Extreme Rules 2016 last Saturday that shocked and delighted some of the WWE fans.

Roman Reigns was celebrating his victory on retaining his world title after defeating AJ Styles on the main event of Extreme Rules. This is when Rollins came behind Reigns, his former Shield partner, and attacked him by kicking Reigns in the gut and finishing his move with a Pedigree.

Rollins then picked up and held the WWE World Heavyweight Title above his head, with the crowd who had seen more than what they paid for on the pay-per-view event cheering for him. Rollins did not mention anything about his intentions, but hinted on a comeback for the World Heavyweight Title by grabbing the prize from Reigns.

Rollins was out of WWE television and was forced to vacate his World Heavyweight Title for 5 months due to an injury, which he suffered on an un-televised match against Demon Kane at Ireland last November. Rollins was preparing for a powerbomb, but as he landed, he buckled his knee. The 29-year-old however, was able to continue and finish the match.

It was later confirmed that Rollins suffered from a knee injury in his right knee, tearing his ACL, MCL and medial meniscus. Rollins was scheduled to defend his title against Roman Reigns on the Survivor Series pay-per-view, but was not able to because of the injury. A tournament to determine a new champion was held instead.
