WWE Battleground 2016 Rumors and Updated Match Card after July 11 episode of Raw

WWE Battleground 2016 Rumors and Updated Match Card after July 11 episode of Raw

WWE Battleground 2016 is just two weeks away and the match card is taking shape. There are already six announced matches and one segment for the event. Here are the updated match card and the latest rumors surrounding WWE Battleground 2016 after the July 11th edition of Monday Night Raw.

  • Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

WWE champion Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins are building the match quite nicely without Roman Reigns, who is still suspended for violating the WWE Wellness Policy. The latest reports suggest that either Ambrose or Rollins will come out as champion.

According to What Culture, the WWE is planning a separate redemption storyline for Reigns once he returns from his suspension. On the other hand, Ambrose and Rollins will continue to build up The Shield Triple Threat Match next week as they battle for the WWE championship on Raw.

  • John Cena, Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. The Club

The Club was beating up John Cena so much that the WWE decided to pair him with Enzo Amore & Cass. It seems to work as the 15-time champion is getting cheered more than usual. It is also expected that Cena, Enzo, and Cass will win this six-man tag match to set up Cena vs. Styles II at SummerSlam.

  • Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

The WWE continues to promote the latest Owens vs. Zayn match as the final battle. These two have had a very entertaining build to their next match. With the WWE Draft coming, it would be better to separate these two superstars to make their next match even more memorable.

  • The Miz vs. Darren Young for the Intercontinental Championship

In a surprising result of the No. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal on Raw, Darren Young will challenge The Miz for the Intercontinental championship. The WWE is really giving Young a push with his new gimmick which could lead to a more surprising win at Battleground.

  • Rusev vs. Zack Ryder for the United States Championship

Ryder carried his momentum from leading Team USA to victory last July 4th as he challenged Rusev for the US title. However, Rusev has not fully recovered from Cena, the awful love-square angle and the failed League of Nations so he still needs this win.

  • Becky Lynch vs. Natalya

A good buildup for Becky vs. Natalya matchup in the last couple of weeks. The Lass Kicker needs the win more than Natalya.

  • Chris Jericho’s The Highlight Reel with Randy Orton

Randy Orton will return to WWE television at Battleground to promote his match with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. It is also a perfect way to have Chris Jericho on the pay-per-view.

On the other hand, here are the other rumored matches that may be added to the match card, per Cageside Seats.

  • The New Day vs. The Wyatt Family

The WWE just did their own version of The Final Deletion as The New Day visited The Wyatt Family’s compound. It was certainly better in terms of production but it was not original. Nonetheless, these two stables will surely clash at Battleground.

  • Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks for the WWE Women’s Championship

Sasha Banks defeated Dana Brooke on Raw which could lead to The Boss challenging Charlotte for the championship. However, it would be much better for Sasha Banks to win the WWE Women’s title at SummerSlam.

WWE Battleground 2016 will be on July 24 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
