Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose looks to be all set to get involved in a feud that will lead up to their match at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Payback 2016. Both the superstars were originally due to be featured against each other at WrestleMania 32, but unavoidable circumstances forced the duo to be sidetracked into different story lines.
In the latest edition of WWE SmackDown, the universe laid witness to both Jericho and Ambrose lay the seed which could indicate the beginning of a feud. Although the hints were not solid as a rock, the indications were positive enough to consider a match happening at the Payback pay-per-view in May.
Ambrose was involved in a match with Tyler Breeze at SmackDown this week. He effectively squashed Breeze, thus marking his return since being defeated by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32. On his way back to the locker room up the ramp, Jericho made his entrance and marched towards the ring. This is when Ambrose provided a peculiar look to Jericho. Jericho arrogantly ignored and smirked his way towards the ring, according to Sportskeeda.
However, the incident was not completely ignored by the “Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla”. Jericho later posted on his Twitter account indirectly referring Ambrose as a “rookie”.
Ambrose in his usual style did not reply to the tweet, however, but raised speculation that in the upcoming episode of RAW, we will see some momentum being gained on this feud. Ambrose and Jericho were originally set to wrestle at Mania 32. However, an injury to Bray Wyatt forced the Lunatic Fringe to face Brock Lesnar at the “Grand Daddy of Them All” and Jericho faced AJ Styles.
With the latest face-off of the two on SmackDown, WWE is probably heading down their original plans of feuding the two. However, the fans have to stay content with “Payback”.
