CM Punk lost his first professional fight in embarrassing fashion when Mickey Gall made him submit in the first round of their bout at UFC 203. In a recent interview, WWE legend Chris Jericho was asked if fans can see CM Punk in wrestling again.
“I don’t really know if Punk will return to WWE because he’s a real complex individual. It would be a big deal for him to come back to WWE. If anything, I could see him putting on a mask, and coming back at Ring of Honor or something like that,” Jericho said on the You’re Welcome podcast with Chael Sonnen.
“He’ll do something different, where no one even knows, at some s***** little independent show, where he comes in unadvertised,” he added.
It has been more than two years since CM Punk walked out of the wrestling industry and ventured into the new world of mixed martial arts. He trained under Duke Roufus in Milwaukee and he resumed his training just days after his loss at UFC 203.
The former WWE champion and Chicago native have expressed his interest in continuing his MMA career but Dana White believes that his next fight will not be with the UFC. Many MMA experts and analysts believe Punk should start at the amateur level.
The 37-year-old also said in many interviews that he will never return to wrestling ever again. However, the only that is true in wrestling is you should “Never say, never.”
New TNA President Billy Corgan also expressed his interest in bringing back CM Punk to the world of wrestling. In a recent interview with ESPN, Corgan revealed that he is open to negotiating with the former WWE superstar about a return.
“I hope that someone who is so gifted comes back to professional wrestling if he wants to be there. So, of course, I would just love to see him in a ring. If it’s our ring, even better. Even if he just wanted to be involved, I would love to have that conversation with him,” Corgan said.
