The WWE will have to split the biggest main roster in its history for the brand extension but it looks like they still need more superstars. There are WWE rumors saying that top officials have reached out to former superstars and the list of names WWE may bring back for the brand split is revealed.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer noted that the WWE is just realizing the fact that they will need to have two full rosters for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. Besides the current stars and the upcoming NXT call-ups, the WWE are looking to add veteran stars.
WWE just realized they have to fill two rosters, calling lots of 40+ year old guys to return for the new era.

Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc. mentioned in his report that the WWE wants to balance the main roster into three types of stars. A brand will have a roster of current superstars, the “New Era” stars and former WWE superstars.
Some of the names rumored to return include Kurt Angle, Goldberg, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, Carlito, John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin and Cryme Tyme, per Anthony DiMarco of Forbes. Angle has expressed his desire to return to WWE since last year.
DiMarco noted that the WWE wants Angle to mentor Chad Gable and Jason Jordan of American Alpha. On the other hand, Goldberg is already confirmed for WWE 2K17 and a return to the company as an in-ring performer is expected.
Jeff Hardy still has a contract with TNA Wrestling but the WWE is expected to offer him a deal once the deal expires later this year. However, there is no confirmation if the company is also interested in re-signing his brother Matt, who is also with TNA.
As for Mysterio and Morrison, they are under a contract with Lucha Underground but the WWE can make a similar deal that lured Alberto Del Rio. Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, Shad Gaspard and JTG are all wrestling in the independent circuit.
