The WWE has been hit by a lot of injuries to its top superstars in the past year including Randy Orton who suffered a shoulder injury. According to the latest rumors, Orton is still months away from returning to the ring but he already has a feud in mind once he’s healthy.
In a report by Cageside Seats, Randy Orton is about two or three months away from being cleared to wrestle again. He underwent shoulder surgery in November but there was even a rumored neck issue that was not confirmed by the WWE.
The 12-time WWE World champion has hypermobile shoulders causing him to be very prone to shoulder injuries. He has suffered five shoulder injuries in his entire WWE career.
If the reports are true, The Viper will be back sometime in July and ready to start a program for SummerSlam. However, there is a question whether Orton will come back to television as a heel or a face.
Related WWE Rumors: Orton may return sooner than expected
When he got injured last November, he was a face who was battling the likes of The New Day and The Wyatt Family but since then, both teams have turned into crowd favorites. Randy Orton has been very open about his preferred role on television in interviews.
In a recent Q&A in a promotional appearance at the Middle East Film and Comic Con in Dubai, the 36-year-old WWE superstar revealed that he wants to return as a heel. He added being a bad guy is natural for him and he loves being booed by the crowd.
Orton also said that he wants to have a feud with main roster newcomers like A.J. Styles and Sami Zayn when he returns to the ring, per Wrestling Inc. He also named Finn Balor as a potential opponent that will likely excite many WWE fans who are tired of seeing Orton face John Cena for the 1,000th time.
