Kurt Angle has been linked with many WWE rumors about a possible return to the company in the past several months. The latest speculations imply that Angle might come back as early as next year and he could be part of the WWE 2K18 video game.
The Olympic Gold Medalist has not appeared in a WWE ring ever since leaving in 2006. He has been injury-free and sober for the past three years which has been the main concern of the company regarding signing him again.
In a recent interview with Title Match Wrestling, the 47-year-old wrestling legend revealed that he spoke with Triple H and Vince McMahon. He mentioned that the company has no plans for him but he will get a call once they know what to do for his return.
“For me to go back it would have to be the right match and the program. Also, you have to have interest from Triple H and Vince McMahon. I spoke with them a few months ago. They do have interest, they just don’t know what they want to do and they don’t know when,” Angle said.
“So I haven’t talked to anybody in the last few months. I don’t expect to until late fall, but you’re not going to see Kurt Angle in the ring this year. Maybe next year, maybe not at all,” he added.
WWE rumors backstage suggest that the company wants Angle to return as a full-time star but the former superstar only likes being a part-timer. Nevertheless, the two sides will eventually agree on a contract as fans can see Angle back in the WWE again.
On the other hand, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer mentioned in a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio that the WWE is interested in signing Kurt Angle to a deal to appear for WWE 2K similar to Bill Goldberg this year. However, it should be noted that these are WWE rumors at the moment and nothing has been confirmed.
