WWE SummerSlam 2016 rumors and possible match card

WWE SummerSlam 2016, the second-biggest wrestling event of the year, is still more than a month away but it already has one official match. Here are the latest rumors and possible match card for WWE SummerSlam 2016.

  • Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton

The WWE announced in advance the match between The Beast and The Viper so that the UFC can promote it at UFC 200. Lesnar was victorious in his MMA return as he dominated and defeated Mark Hunt.

Even though it is obvious that The Beast will win this match, Lesnar vs. Orton is a dream match for many. These two superstars never had a feud before and it is a very fresh matchup. In an appearance on Booker T’s Heated Conversations podcast, Orton said that he is looking forward to his matchup with Lesnar.

“When I found out that it was me and Lesnar for SummerSlam that just put a smile on everybody’s face, me included, because that’s a big match. It’s a very big match to have coming back after I guess it’s been about 10 months since I’ve wrestled,” Orton said.

“I’m glad he came back to the WWE and I always wanted this match. It just kind of fell in my lap,” he added.

On the other hand, here are the several rumored matches for WWE SummerSlam 2016, per Cageside Seats.

  • John Cena vs. A.J. Styles

A.J. Styles will have another opportunity to beat up John Cena one-on-one at SummerSlam. These two men will be involved in a six-man tag match at Battleground. Styles will team up with fellow The Club members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson against Cena, Enzo Amore & Big Cass.

  • Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks for the WWE Women’s Championship

There is still no official announcement about what the state of the women’s championship for Battleground. However, it has been rumored for months now that Sasha Banks will finally win the WWE Women’s title at SummerSlam.

  • Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship

According to Dave Meltzer, the plan for SummerSlam before Roman Reigns got suspended was Rollins vs. Reigns for the WWE title. Even though The Guy failed a Wellness Policy test, he was not removed from the Battleground main event.

It is still very possible for the plans to change as Dean Ambrose is a very entertaining champion. The WWE should give him the chance to shine before pushing Reigns down to everyone’s throats once again.
