The Brazilian Men’s Volleyball team and the Chinese Women’s Volleyball team won the prestigious Olympic gold medal in the Volleyball tournament of the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The men’s volleyball team of Brazil took advantage of the 27 errors committed by Italy during the gold medal match of the tournament. They also survived the late game run of Italy during the final set of the match. Brazil defeated Italy in straight sets by the score of 25-22, 28-26 and 26-24 to take the Olympic gold medal.
Throughout the match, Brazil got 39 attacks, 6 blocks, and 7 service aces as compared to Italy’s 40 attacks, 7 blocks, and 2 service aces. Brazil also limited their errors to only 23 errors.
The veteran opposite hitter from Brazil, Wallace De Souza carried the whole Brazilian team who scored a game high of 20 points, 17 from attacks, 2 blocks, and a service ace. Luis Felipe Marques Fonteles also helped the team with 11 points.
Italy’s veteran Ivan Zaytev led his team with 17 points, 15 from attacks, a block, and a service ace. Osmany Juantorena and Emanuele Birarelli also helped the team with 14 points and 9 points apiece.

Meanwhile, After failing to enter into the top 4 of the tournament last 2012 London Olympics, the women’s volleyball team of China finally won another Olympic gold medal surviving a first set loss to the Serbia. Despite having a young, talented roster and with an almost all newcomers in the Olympics, the Chinese team defeated the Serbian team in four sets by the score of 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, and 25-23.
The Chinese have an impressive teamwork during the match wherein they managed to only get 17 errors. They also showcased 53 successful attacks, 8 superb blocks, and 6 strong service aces as compared to Serbia’s 57 attacks, blocks, and 6 service aces.
The phenomenal volleyball outside hitter, Ting Zhu scored a game high of 25 points, 24 from attacks and 1 service ace. Veteran players Yunli Xu and Ruoqi Hui, who also played last London Olympics, helped the team with 12 points and 13 points apiece.
On Serbia’s side, Tijana Boskovic led her team with 23 points, 21 from attacks, 1 block, and 1 service ace. Veteran middle blocker/attacker, Milena Rasic also helped the team with 16 points.
The Brazil men’s Volleyball team the China women’s Volleyball team both won their last Olympic gold medal during the 2004 Athens Olympics. Brazil failed twice during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics wherein they took Olympic the silver medal.
The Chinese, on the other hand, won bronze during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and they were eliminated by the Japanese squad during the quarterfinal round of the 2012 London Olympics.
