The Malaysian national and world champion badminton player Lee Chong Wei takes his first win in the men’s singles tournament in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Lee Chong Wei dominated Opti Soren of Suriname in straight sets by the score of 21-2 and 21-3 and finished the match in just 19 minutes.
Lee’s biggest lead in the first set was 19 points while on the second set his biggest lead was 18 points. Surinamese Opti Soren is seemed to be nervous and intimidated with the world’s ranked number one. Opti Soren only scored 5 points throughout the match.
Lee Chong Wei is well motivated and really determined to get his first ever gold medal in an Olympic tournament after failing twice in the last two Olympic games. Lee was defeated twice by its rival Lin Dan of China during the 2008 Beijing Olympics and in 2012 London Olympics finals.
Meanwhile, reigning back-to-back Olympic gold medalist Lin Dan also took his first win after defeating David Obernosterer in straight sets by the score of 21-5 and 21-11.
The Chinese player Lin Dan also dominated this game who has a 16 points lead in the first set and 10 points in the second set.
The world ranked number 3, Lin Dan, is eyeing for its third straight Olympic gold medal. Lin Dan defeated Lee Chong Wei twice in a thrilling final series during the last two Summer Olympics.
Lee Chong Wei will face Liang Derek Wong Zi of Singapore for the Group A of men’s singles tournament while Lin Dan will face Vladimir Malkov of Russia in Group E.
Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan are two highly favored players to battle for this year’s 2016 Rio Olympics.
