Philippines vs Turkey Watch Here: Rio Olympic qualifiers tune-up match

The Philippine basketball national team faces their counterparts from Turkey in a tune-up match on Friday night in preparation for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) which is scheduled from July 5 to 10, 2016 in Manila, Philippines.

Philippines vs Turkey rematch set tonight after the Turkish team beat the Philippines, 103-68 in an earlier tune-up match played in Istanbul, Turkey earlier this month.

The Turkish team arrived days ago in the country and are considered one of the favorites to advance to the basketball tournament at the Rio 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil later this year.

Only one team will qualify for Rio from the six countries participating in the OQT Manila. Turkey is grouped with Senegal and Canada in the first group while the Philippines is grouped with New Zealand and France.

Canada and France, both of which will feature some NBA players, join Turkey as among the favorites to win the tournament.

The OQT Manila tournament format calls for a single round robin play in the group stage with the top two teams advancing to the crossover semifinals. The winners in the final four meet in the championship round and the winner of the final will advance to Rio 2016.
