With all three judges scoring 116-110, Filipino Boxing icon Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao won via unanimous decision against Timothy Bradley in their third face off on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Arena.
Manny Pacquiao undoubtedly dominated the match over his opponent establishing two knockdowns in the 7th and 9th rounds.
In the opening round of the match, both fighters were measuring their range by exchanging jabs. Cheers for Pacquiao were heard throughout the crowd while waiting who will land the first legit hit.
A flashing knockdown was seen in the 7th round which in the first glance looked like a slip. Post-fight Bradley claimed that for him it was a push rather than a knockdown.
In the 9th round, Bradley landed an uppercut to Pacquiao. The Filipino boxer answered a clear left counter punch on his American rival that caused him to be back down in the canvas for the second time. The crowd stood on their feet as they cheered for Pacquiao.
Bradley seemed to be looking for a knockout in the closing rounds but failed to take down Pacquiao. Pacquiao’s aggressiveness led him to win more rounds than his opponent.
“As of now, I am retired,” Pacquiao said via Yahoo Sports when asked about his future plans in boxing and his retirement. “I’m going to go home and think about it. I want to be with my family. I want to serve the people.”
The rivalry between Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley started in 2012 after a controversial split decision favoring Bradley. Pacquiao then proved himself by giving Bradley his second career defeat in their April 2014 rematch.
Twitter nation, including famous sports analysts and writers, stood in unity as they all agreed that Manny Pacquiao won the fight. They were amazed by the outstanding skill of the fighter and doubted if he will really be retiring from boxing.
